The Diamond Initiative asked Sophie to answer a few questions about her business and her responses are below.
“So great to have won :D”
What made you start your own MUA business?
My inspiration through starting my makeup business actually came from the passion I gained from growing up with you tube tutorials and purchasing luxury makeup products from a young age.
I love applying my makeup everyday, getting inspired through new looks and trends and I knew from then I had found my true passion and hobby
Who has been your biggest inspiration while building your business to where it is today?
My biggest inspiration actually started off with the Pixiwoo sisters from when I watched You tube tutorials and look at them now! Absolutely rocking it with books, brush ranges and a great reputation from their amazing skills! Another one is Lisa Eldridge she specialises in celebrity makeup but makes them look naturally beautiful with her tips and tricks she has learnt throughout her career which is forever inspiring.
Describe your perfect day at work!
My perfect day at work would be waking up to the bright sunshine, beginning with a peaceful meditation to get me ready for the day ahead then setting my intentions and plans for each day.
I love a good wedding morning to go to first thing, not only do I love making the bride look beautiful but I also love being around my clients and gaining their happy energy on the biggest day of their life.
I would then make my way to the gym and release all them toxins and give my mind a rest as it’s the one place I love to get away and enjoy working on my body, which would then lead to a yummy lunch to cheer me up even more.
The late afternoon would be catching up and sharing my morning with my social media followers who love to see what I get up to with tips and tricks or behind the scene snaps.
Then my evening would be to glam up all more party clients ready for their nights out and add a bit of glitz and sparkle to their eyes.
After I would wind down my night with a home cooked dinner, a pamper night with my skincare regime and a good book before bed, ready to start the next day.
What has been your biggest hurdle to date and how did you overcome it?
My biggest hurdle to date would be growing my business from nothing but trust and recommendations from my first clients and brides a few years back.
Any business takes time to build up and get clients to book in with you on a regular basis and to know that I have overcome that hurdle and now feel secure in my business is a massive achievement when I know I could have given up and returned to a 40hr job.
What has been your biggest “wow” moment in business? Your biggest achievement?
My biggest wow moment in my career would have been when I got front page image on a well known bridal magazine and also getting a regular q&a section as their makeup artist.
I loved getting my first copy of the magazine when it got released.
What do you find most useful about The Diamond Initiative?
I love the Diamond initiative because all of us women are likeminded business babes who are out to conquer the world with our amazing businesses and the support and friendship I have gained (compared to other networking groups) have been something I will never forget.
It’s hard to meet people on the same wavelength and ambition as you, and I sure have found my girls!
