As earlier this week I posted a blog on my irrational self-doubt over the weekend, I wanted to share with you a time when I really believed in myself to show you it can be done!
The main one that sticks to mind is when I was setting up my first business, Roseanna Croft Jewellery. Starting this business up was a huge step for me, having just moved back to England after four years living in Australia and after 10 years in full time employment, it was a huge leap. But the process didn’t really feel scary. It just felt ‘right,’ like I was meant to be doing exactly that.
I originally set the business up with support from the Prince’s Trust, because I had no idea how to start a business. I knew what I wanted to do, just not how to do it. As I was writing the business plan though – and as those of you who have done this before will know, it’s a very thorough process – I had no doubts whatsoever. I believed in what I was doing so much that I wasn’t scared at all. ‘Plan B’ didn’t even cross my mind.
I believed in my ability as a goldsmith to make this work. And as for the ‘Plan B,’ I was confident I could pick up a job if all else failed, so it didn’t even cross my mind.
Fast forward a few years down the line and my business is thriving. There have been highs and lows but even through the lows (which have been pretty low) I haven’t doubted my ability to make the business work. I’ve changed the plan slightly and taken action where necessary and have always had the self-belief that I could pull it off! And I know my business will be thriving in 5 years and in 10 years and 50 years (although I will have definitely retired by then!)
Can you think of a time where you believed in yourself 100%? Sit and take yourself back to that time right now. Visualise believing in yourself. Believe that you can conquer the world. I believe in you!
I bet you feel amazing after that don’t you? I know I do! Now, go and conquer Friday and leave a comment to tell us about a time when you have believed in yourself!
